How can I make my site work with www infront of it using WHM?

1. Adjust the DNS settings for example.com. Make sure you have address records (type A or CNAME)  for both example.com and www.example.com, with the same IP address. This is not hard to do at all with both Windows and Linux DNS servers.

2. If you are using virtual hosting (VPS) WHM to provide many websites on a single IP address, you will also need to tell your web server about the alternative name for the site. In your Cpanel/WHM goto Edit DNS Zone under DNS Functions.  Add CNAME record www,  click save,  and bamm! Your website will now appear when you type  www.example.com.

The first thing you want to do is backup all files within your Joomla! installation. Create a folder on your local system, and download all files to that folder using your ftp client application.
